At Heal Endo, regaining health means finding balance.
It’s not about the latest juice fad or super food powder, or about following a strict, flavorless-endo diet for the rest of your life. It’s about listening to your own unique body, finding the big issues creating disharmony inside, and restoring function to allow the body to heal. It’s about finding a healthy equilibrium in your diet that doesn’t feel forced, one that eliminates craving as your nutrient reserves are refilled, and a diet you’re finally happy to accommodate because you finally start to feel well again.
This diet and lifestyle is what I support through my services. I don’t treat or diagnose disease, but instead focus on whole body imbalances that exacerbate pain, fatigue, endo-belly, and general symptoms of endometriosis related illness. By creating health in these areas where there was previously dysbiosis, deficiencies, stress, and toxins, we take a holistic approach to healing from the inside-out with dramatic results.
You can’t cure endometriosis, but with the correct approach we can allow the body to heal in incredible ways. That’s why we’ll focus on the things we can mend, like that endo belly or that debilitating chronic fatigue. We’ll work together to pinpoint each unique hurdle you face and nurture them back to health through deep diet and nutrition work, work that will help re-build the foundation of health that so many women with endometriosis have lost to this disease.
In the process, we aim to minimize the impact of the endometriosis itself. Whether you’re after less pain, less fatigue, or improved fertility, I believe there is a road to each solution when we start balancing all the body’s systems back into place.
What is a Nutritional Therapist?
There are a lot of titles out there: nutritionist, dietician, health coach, and more. It can all be a little confusing, which is why I’m here to tell you about my certifications, and why I’m a Nutritional Therapist.
As an NTC, I’m certified through the Nutritional Therapy Association (www.nta.com). My belief is that no two bodies are created equal, and a diet that balanced and healed one body may not be the ideal diet for another person. We’re all individual, and need to heal as such.
That being said, we all will benefit from a diet based on foods in their whole form. This the where foundation of my practice lies: in a nutrient-dense, properly-prepared diet, tailored to meet your unique needs. One that builds your body up from your liver and stomach, to your muscles and brain, to your uterus and ovaries. I often refer to this diet as an “ancestral diet”, and will work with you to discover which aspects of this diet are precisely what your body needs. You may be surprised at just how different your journey back to health is from any of your other endo sisters.
From here, I will work on you to find specific weaknesses in your own body, and target them with nutritional protocols meant to heal. To give you an example of why bio-individuality is so important, I here have assessments of two different endo-clients (published with permission, of course) I've been working with this year (2017). Both of these clients have been diagnosed with endometriosis - and one with adenomyosis - and have suffered from its related symptoms for many years. Yet, both clients had quite different charts at my initial consult, per below
[Note: I edited these graphs in places where the red line was off the charts to better depict the significance of their symptoms.]
As you can see, both clients were dealing with significant imbalances throughout the body, and although each had an enormous issue with blood sugar handling, they otherwise had quite differing issues to focus in on. Each was also eating a completely different diet that they each assumed was "endo friendly", although I could work with each to show how their diet was contributing to symptoms such as severe endo pains, digestive issues, and chronic fatigue in both, plus infertility in client 2. By working with each of these clients on a very individualized basis, each benefited from a personalized plan that calmed the system, offered deep nutrient replenishment, healed the gut, and removed the blood sugar rollercoaster.
That’s why, after 3 months, my client on the right-side picture above (client 2, with endo and adeno) had a new graph that looked like this:
Solely through targeted diet and lifestyle, we were able to bring that "inflamed" red line down in 3 months to the blue line, where she was feeling so much better. Not only were her periods pain free for the first time in a long time, she also had new energy and stamina surfacing out of her years of chronic fatigue, eliminated lingering depression and low moods, and had begun to lose stubborn weight. Her hair was shinier, her nails stronger. Moreover, she was a upset 3 months later when her new energy started to fade away, but was surprised to find out that instead of a backslide she had finally been blessed to conceive a healthy pregnancy after 2 1/2 years of fertility struggles.
This is what we aim for when we bring a body back into balance. Not to cure the endo, but to heal a body that so badly needs proper function restored so that it begins to truly live again.
This story is, of course, positively amazing, but remember it's as unique as the woman it follows. To be transparent, another of my clients of 5 months is just now meeting up with the progress of this client above. Like these two women, your own pace of healing will depend on the severity of your condition, mental outlook, stress levels, and time commitment. The understanding here is that you are unique, your body is unique, and your condition is unique. Not to mention some situations are more complex than others. This is why I ask for a commitment of at least 3 months, so that we can tease out the issues one by one and, at your body’s own pace, begin to mend the voids.
Working with me is a partnership
Healing from chronic illness is no simple task. It takes dedication, commitment, and most importantly a willingness to learn - and laugh at ourselves of course - because we’re going to be doing some brand new things! We will only work at a pace you are comfortable with in your own life, with the aim to minimize stress and create lasting habits. But that being said, I have to re-iterate it will take work on your part. This is no Heal Endo magic pill. It’s all about keeping an open mind, knowing things may have to shift in order to heal, and working together with me in a positive way that motivates you at the same time it may challenge you.
I can offer you the tools and resources, but you’re the only one who can implement them into your life. By working as a partnership, we can together pave a beneficial path towards healing.
What about movement and alignment?
Although my site delves deep into alignment and movement, I’m not a certified movement teacher. That being said, I can offer simple advice on movement practices as well as wonderful books, programs, and resources, but I don’t personally offer services relating directly to this. If you want to work with a movement specialist, though, I highly encourage it!! Feel free to talk openly about it with me.
What about Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis (HTMA)?
I have written a post all about this and how incredibly helpful this can be for the endo-warrior. CLICK HERE to read all about it.
